Nuances

“Apparitions still won’t leave me alone,
It’s as if you never left…
How am I supposed to remember you,
When you won’t let me forget?”
-Barenaked Ladies, 1998

God it’s good to be back….

What's on Britney's Ex's mind now?
|
- Didn’t have to listen closely to hear the collective sigh of relief expressed from the entire male population in America upon learning that Britney’s wedding was a gag and that an annulment shortly followed. I’ll admit it, I was a big part of that simultaneous exhale. Though there are lots of questions that I just have to know…
- What exactly did go on in that hotel room that night? I mean, did the groom get post marriage/honeymoon “rights” with Britney? If so, can I be next?
- Don’t you just wonder what’s going on in his mind right now? I mean, he had Britney Spears…BRITNEY SPEARS!!! And yeah, he’s been friends with her for a long, long time, but still…IT’S BRITNEY SPEARS!!! Gotta wonder what his life is like back at the college he attends in Louisiana. Are the girls avoiding him because he was with Britney? Is he considered a God by fellow male students? If not, he should be.

We know you're guilty Pete. Enough already.
|
- 2 issues I hope I never have to hear about again, but know I will several hundred more times…Pete Rose and Mad Cow Disease (like that’ll ever stop me from enjoying a steak).
- I’m not sure when it became official, but MTV has now become the most unwatchable network on TV. Is there a government committee who could officially bestow this honor? Or perhaps MTV could give itself the award on its VMA show.
- Speaking of TV… the American version of BBC’s “Coupling” was a flop. If you saw how good the BBC's version was, you know the American version would never compare.

MXC...The next top TV show?
|
- Best show on TV now? (except for the Simpsons which will never be replaced at the top). Most Extreme Challenge on the new Spike TV. Absolutely fantastic. How could anyone go wrong with a Japanese game show, dubbed in English, but not translated correctly? The stunts they make these people do…it’s amazing how no one ends up dead.
- Mmm…Jessica Alba (we have the same birthday…I think it’s fate.)

The Purple Eaters have me to thank. Sorry guys...
|
- Ok, at the risk of being killed by a rabid fan, I’ll admit it, I’m the jinx. The last time the Vikings were in the Superbowl was 4 months before I was born. And speaking of….
- I know I wasn’t the only one who tuned into the game against Arizona simply to see what creative way our NFL franchise would find to blow things this year. Boy they didn’t disappoint.
- A certain B96 DJ sure makes me long for the days when B96 first became an urban station and didn’t use any DJ’s….
- I sure would love to check out the new Club 3 degrees sometime, though I gave up school dances 10 years ago.

With Rachel "Summer" Bilson on the O.C., how can it not be considered a "guy" show?
|
- Ever known someone who was on “Blind Date?” Or perhaps “Elimidate?” What do you say to someone who has completely embarrassed themselves?
- I figure I’ll be the winner of American Idol #24,985,031. Right after the guy who plays Apu on the “Simpsons” and before Carl Lewis.
- 600+ people reportedly showed up to try out for KARE 11’s “Minnesota Idol” contest. It would’ve been more except some outstate residents thought the rotunda was a waitress at their favorite dive bar.
- The truth they don’t want you to know is that “The O.C.” is actually a guy show. Fist fights every week and amazing looking actresses? Tell me that don’t have testosterone written all over it.
“It’s been a long time,
I shouldn’t have left you,
Without a dope rhyme to step to…”
-Rakim

News from World of Dance
Blog by John Kill pt.2
The living legend Grandmaster Flash is rumored to be penning his memoirs, with help from New York
Daily News reporter/biographer Chris Coleman. Grandmaster Flash began working with rappers like Kurtis
Blow and most famously the Furious Five (Melle Mel, Cowboy, Kid Creole, Scorpio and Rahiem) in the late
70s, later racking up massive worldwide hits like ‘White Lines’ and ‘The Message’.
Morcheeba have released a ‘Best Of’ album entitled ‘Parts Of The Process’, which will include two
new tracks. The album is preceded by the single ‘What’s Your Name’, featuring Big Daddy Kane. On June 30
the band released a DVD ‘From Brixton To Beijing’, which includes a Brixton gig, as well as a documentary
following their experiences in China.
Tim Deluxe, the man behind last year's club monster 'It Just Won't Do' and this summer's 'Less
Talk, More Action', is currently hard at work in the studio completing his debut album, 'Little Ginger
Club Kid'. Rumors are that it's classic house with some surprising twists, and generally banging overall.
Vocalists include Terra Deva, Sam Obernik, Ben Onono and Bugsy, who is featured on a track called 'What A
Life (Amsterdam)'. The album drops in September on Underwater.
Ashley Beedle has remixed a 26 year-old Elton John song, ‘Are You Ready For Love’. The track, which
was originally recorded by Elton in 1977, will have a limited release on pink 12-inch vinyl. You’ll be
able to hear the song in its original form, on the B-side of the Beedle remix. ‘Are You Ready For Love’
hit the streets on July 7, on Norman Cook’s Southern Fried Records.
Word on the street is that Paul Oakenfold is to follow in the footsteps of Junkie XL by
remixing an Elvis Presley track. The track in question will be 'Rubberneckin', a B-side from the 1970
Elvis hit 'Don't Cry Daddy'.
Dynamix, the in-house production/remix team of Kult Records, continues their string of clubland
hits with “Bodyfly” which is a current favorite of Junior Vasquez. Following “No Man Can Tame Me”, “Never
Get Me”, and “Don’t Want Another Man” with remixes of Toni Braxton and Tamia, the team of Eddie Cumana and
Beppe Savoni are currently working on an album project.
Junior Senior are taking the world by storm with their debut album "d-d-don't don't stop the beat",
combining elements of French disco, rock and ska for an energetic album that is hard to classify. With
wild videos for "Move Your Feet" and "Rhythm Bandits" and an energetic live show, look for Junior Senior
to get the world dancing!
Grammy Award-winning remix team Deep Dish (‘Dubfire’ and Sharam’) have earned their well-deserved
international reputation as one of the best remix and live DJ teams - chosen as Best International DJ by
Muzik Magazine and ranked highly on DJ Magazine's World's Top 100 DJs reader poll. As remixers, their work
on tracks for P. Diddy, Iio, Justin Timberlake, Delirium, Sandy B, Pet Shop Boys, Tina Turner and BT has
dominated clubland and led to a Grammy remixer nomination for Madonna's "Music" and a Grammy win for
Dido's "Thank You".
Everyone knows Paul Oakenfold, the global DJ, mastermind behind the Perfecto label, and producer of
notable remixes. But did you know that he was a chef also?
Basement Jaxx have a new album out next month and they've worked with Dizzee Rascal on one of the
tracks. It's called 'Lucky Star' and it'll be the first single taken from the album.
